Refund and Cancellation Policy

How donation refunds, campaign or contest cancellations, fees, and payment disputes are handled.

Effective September 1, 2026 · Version 2026-09-01-v2

1. Donations are generally final

A donation is made to the client nonprofit identified at checkout. Donations are generally final unless the nonprofit approves a refund, the nonprofit’s published campaign terms provide otherwise, or applicable law requires a refund. RaiseRace is not the donation recipient or merchant of record.

2. Requesting a refund

Contact the nonprofit identified on the campaign page or receipt and provide the donor name, receipt email, date, amount, campaign, and reason. Do not send full card or bank details. If the nonprofit cannot be reached, contact RaiseRace so the request can be routed and documented.

Duplicate payments, incorrect amounts, unauthorized payments, material campaign misrepresentation, technical errors, and inability to use restricted funds for their stated purpose warrant prompt review.

3. Approved refunds and fees

Approved refunds are submitted through Stripe to the original payment method. Card and bank processing times vary. RaiseRace does not control when a financial institution posts the credit.

When an approved donation is refunded, the RaiseRace application fee is returned in full for a full refund and proportionally for a partial refund. Stripe processing fees may be non-refundable under Stripe’s terms and remain the responsibility of the nonprofit unless applicable law or the nonprofit’s donor-facing terms require otherwise.

4. Campaign and contest changes

Pausing, ending, or cancelling a campaign or contest does not automatically reverse completed donations. The nonprofit must follow its published commitments and applicable law. If a Donation Voting entry is removed or disqualified, the donation continues to benefit the nonprofit unless a refund is approved or required. Votes and rankings may be adjusted without altering the original transaction record.

5. Payment disputes

A donor may have rights through the payment method issuer. The client nonprofit is responsible for responding to disputes and chargebacks on its direct charges. RaiseRace records refunds, reversals, and disputes separately from the original transaction and adjusts public totals when verified payment status changes.
